Providing a seamless integration for cashless parking
RingGo, part of the EasyPark Group, has created an integration that allows motorists to pay for their parking on exit, by transferring their parking session to the RingGo app. RingGo performs a “ticket-takeover”, handling the motorist payment via the RingGo app. Motorists can choose to either enter their vehicle registration number or scan the barcode ticket in the RingGo app to seamlessly perform payment for the parking session.
Our partners at RingGo – UK phone parking market leaders with over 19 million registered users nationwide – provide the ability to pay for parking within WPS car parks via their smartphone app. At enabled car parks, motorists can pay for parking via RingGo, giving them greater extra convenience without the need to queue at on-site pay stations.
As an example, in late 2022, RingGo worked with WPS to implement an ANPR solution called ‘Scan & Pay’ to the Touchwood Shopping Centre in Solihull. ‘Scan & Pay’ works by using ANPR cameras that capture an image of the vehicle registration upon arrival at the car park. The cameras scan the motorist’s number plate on entry to the car park and again on exit, raising the exit barrier automatically following confirmation of a successful payment. Payment can be made using the RingGo app and entering location code 33210 (for Touchwood Solihull) and locating the motorist’s parking session. The session start time is captured by the ANPR camera on entry and the motorist simply opens the app to pay for their parking when they are ready to leave the car park. The parking tariff due for payment is automatically calculated and presented to the motorist in-app, ready to pay via Apple Pay/Google Pay, credit or debit card. The motorist doesn’t have to worry about inserting their ticket to leave as the ANPR camera on exit will confirm a valid session and automatically raise the exit barrier. In the rare event that RingGo is unable to find a vehicle after selection, the end-user can simply scan the barcode from their ticket in the RingGo app, and make payment.
The RingGo / WPS integration allows for web validation via a wide range of devices (PCs, bespoke LAN / WiFi devices / tablets and smartphone).
